What a Wonderful World

I hardly eat out.

I find that most food outlets serve food that is created just for taste and has no understanding of nutrition or health. This was my main reason for starting the Raw Cafe at Taste Organic... However last week I felt like going out and being served. It was more about the experience of someone taking care of me, and less about the food itself.

It wasn't as hard as I expected to convince my dearly beloved to venture to the local Thai restaurant and have dinner with me (basil-chili rice noodles with vegetables - not RAW or extremely HEALTHY but tasty and one Thai dinner in a few months will certainly not kill me...).

On a table next to us we saw this kid - no older than 4 I assume - playing with the new gadget: taking video footage of himself on his dad's mobile phone, and playing those videos to himself immediately afterwards. And we were both amazed how technology is changing us. How never before in history people had the ability to record and watch themselves instantly. This child is growing into a world that we will probably have difficulties recognising!

Yesterday while I was creating a few Christmas cards I was able to watch (and I must admit it's the first time I actually SAW) Louis Armstrong's performance from 1968 of "What a Wonderful World". This song sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it, and now watching his performance, I was completely UPLIFTED. I just have to find any excuse of sharing it!

So what a better excuse than to remind us all how wonderful this world is?...

A world where we can easily share a music act from more than 40 years ago.

A world where technology is advancing and giving us opportunities we never had before. The ability to communicate regardless of limitations of space - and time.

"I hear babies cry

I watch them grow

They'll learn much more

Than I'll ever know

And I think to myself -

What a wonderful world..."
